First thing that you've got to say about Space Force: RU is that it's drop dead-by-a-laser gorgeous. Whether it's the background nebulae, seeing a cruiser explode with the traditional fire-wave expanding circle (first coined in the Death-Star explosion), or trying to stare into a star to see an enemy pilot in a dog-fight, but more on that later.
Whether you choose to follow the storyline or not you're in for a hell of a space adventure, you can tell straight away that there is plenty to do in this war-torn universe. As there's 10 different races to have dealings with you'll be using the diplomacy system and to get jobs with the guys you're buddies with and stay away from those you're not. And of course, your status with the different factions depends on how you deal with them and your past actions (and trades).
And what would be a space sim if you couldn't trade, upgrade and improve your ship? Space Force: RU fills this to a tea with loads of ships out there to choose from and almost everything that you can upgrade on them to turn it into your style. Kind of like the ultimate in space role-playing.
Fighting though is what you'll spend the most time on, first of all we gotta tell you that it ain't gonna be a cake-walk. You'll have wing-men to help you out, but combat is going to be hard and when the AI is as on the ball as this it's a real challenge. To give you an example; fighting close to a sun the enemy has a tendency to attack you from the direction of the sun, meaning that you won't know where to shoot. It's like they've taken all the tricks of modern fighter pilots and applied them to space.
So what are you waiting for; dive in now for one of the most challenging space-sims that you'll play this year.
