Warning: Text dump in following posts!

I don't expect this to be high priority (Waterfox is effectively Firefox x64, and I would expect technically not supported) but is a definite "would like" from my point of view.

First thing to note: Metaboli works fine under Firefox and Internet Exploder, 32 bit versions. I have both Java virtual machines installed (32 and 64 bit).

Using Waterfox, I've gone to look at my games list, and it's asked me to install the plugin, but gets stuck around 75% installed (it's asked me for UAC permission twice by this point).

Relevant parts of the Java console and the Yummy.Core.Logging.Log (cut down to just the latest attempt to install) are included (or would be if I could upload them - what suffixes can I use to upload them? They're a little large to paste, but I have done so below.)

If you look at the logs you've provided, there are multiple references to "Program Files (x86)". Since that's the 32-bit source location, it's not a 64-bit service.

There are very, very few 64-bit browsers. They technically have no advantage, as you have Separate tab-based address spaces in all* modern browsers. That means that each tab can access up to 2GB of memory - and if you've a tab eating 2GB of memory, you've got issues.

So, like much of the 64-bit transition, it's not going to come any time soon, as on a per-process level, there's little requirement. Games - sure, access more than 2GB of memory. Video editors, photo editors, Development Environments, downloaders, cache systems, database engines - all will take advantage of 64 bit (or are doing so already). But browsers? No point.

So - coming back to the Yummy process used by Metaboli... it's a 32-bit process, so won't run in the 64-bit process space of waterfox, or any other 64-bit browser (64-bit IE included). And, for the reasons given above, I don't expect it to any time soon.

Sure, I've written 64-bit compatible software, and normally it's a simple flip of the switch to compile to 64-bit... but then there are the times when it's not, and that's a hell of a lot of testing to do to PROVE it's not a simple flip.

Reading the logs provided, the %ProgramFiles% and %ProgramFiles(x86)% locations are irrelevant, as they are external commands or storage locations (not to mention they are just conventions - it's easy enough to install x86-64 software in the x86 location, and vice versa). Strangely enough, because Yummy is a 32 bit program, the x86 location (from the Yummy log) is the correct one, the x86-64 location (from the Java log) is incorrect, hence the failure - looks like the installer is attempting to install to an incorrect location and then looking in said incorrect location. Also, since the method now implemented uses Java to connect to Yummy, rather than being a plugin, it's looking for a socket to connect to (127.0.0.1:41000 in the case of x86-64, but if I look at the logs for a x86 browser, it's port 40000) and failing, bitness is irrelevant (as far as the connection is concerned at least). I don't think it's a case of making the plugin 64 bit, just a case of pointing it in the right direction when the Java wrapper is running in a 64 bit environment.

Waterfox does actually give a benefit - I've found it more stable and better performing than Firefox under my usage (note that I am by no means an average user, so a definite YMMV applies - I don't expect most people would notice the better performance that I do). Also, it's possible for 32 bit software to access upto 4GB (it's called large address awareness - 4GB on 64 bit OS, 3GB on 32 bit) and for 32bit OS to access upto 64GB (Physical Address Extension).

There already exists Flash, Java and Silverlight for 64 bit, and non-binary plugins for Firefox (XUL based) run just fine in Waterfox. It even uses the same profile, so you don't even have to mess around with transferring it over.

Like I said, I expect it to be a low priority, for exactly that reason; 64 bit browsers are in a minority. That said, everyone has one if they have a (modern) 64 bit Windows install - IE comes in both flavours by default, with the same results as far as Metaboli is concerned (as stated). It would be nice, but I still have Firefox and IE 32bit installed, so I'm not prevented from playing my Metaboli games. It's just a "would like" as I find it more stable and better performing for my purposes.

At least you didn't get stuck with IEFrame for ages, as your chosen browser (Chrome) wasn't supported

Have you tried copying the program files (x86) files into the program files dir, and seeing what happens with that?
