This game continually crashes when I try to select a character, does anyone know what the problem might be? Here are the details of my system:

Windows Vista Business with Service Pack 2 32bit
AMD Athlon dual core processor
2 gig RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT with latest update (285.62)

A bit diffucult to say what the cause is with the info provided so far.

I know this game will run on vista 32 as i plyed it with vista.My system at the time was fairly similar and the game ran ok.

Have you made sure to update direct x from the games own page to ensure you have the correct dx files?

Did your graphics card driver update also install the lastest version of the physx drivers?

Have you tried updating your motherboard and sound card drives?

When the game crashes do you get an error report generated in your windows logs?

To do so goto start then right click computer and choose manage.In the window that loads expand event viewer,winodws logs and choose application.Providing you have tried to launch the game right before starting this process the error generated should be the 1 right at the top of the list. double click the error.choose the details tab of the window that loads.expand both system and event data then copy and paste the details here please.

It might help shed some light on what is happening.

Many thanks for your reply, I've researched this problem further and it seems it's a problem with the game itself, I've been on the following forum which has quite a few annoyed people on it http://forum.faery-thegame.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=221. It seems a lot of people are having the same problem - will update if I find out anything more. Also thanks for the tip about physx drivers.

I have just tried looking through the thread you linked to regarding this issue.

While doing so i came across http://forums.xbox.com/gfw/technical_su ... 69989.aspx

which suggested using an older nvidia driver.Am not sure if this would be the graphics or physx driver that would be causing the issue as they usually come togather in the one download from nvidia.com.

The thread suggested using driver version 275.33 which seemed to work for someone.

I half wonder if it might be worth trying to change the settings for physx before trying to revert to the older drivers.I can't remember if my settings were set to run the physx via my 8800gtx or from the cpu at the time i was playing this game.

Thanks again, that did the trick - I think Metaboli might like to take note that this particular game doesn't run under the newest Nvidia card or rather it doesn't run on update 280.26

That update actually is messed up.. I had to downgrade just to run Mass Effect 2.

the 280.26 driver is the one that had many issues not just with the Faery legends game, the latest driver 285.62 seems ok so far with what i have had tested it with so you might want to update to that as they have also updated the PhysX, 3D and HD audio drivers as well.
