Dear all,

After having got a host of complaints about the 64-bit OS incompatibility of our service, we have decided to act on it, and, even if it took a long time coming, we have finally had the opportunity of testing and implementing the system, and are delighted to see that it is working very well.

With the Chill-out Pack, we've had a host of games added that are compatible with 64-bit systems, and I'll a list of them later on for you :)

To give you a picture, and because that number is subject to variations, the exact number of 64-bit compatible games (on the 28/07/2009) is: 194 games.

Many more will be added over the coming months, and this thread will summarize them.

Please keep to this thread and tell us what games you would like to see added to the 64-bit list.

World in Conflict and Supreme Commander work MUCH better in 64-bit OS, due to the ridiculous amounts of RAM those games want. Anything with the "Games for Windows" tag is generally better on 64-bit due to the increased RAM.

Some games that I know would benefit from the extra ram, X3:Reunion (Get terran conflict if at all possible as v2.0 of that is made to take advantage of loads of ram), Civ4, DoW and pretty much anything using more that 1gb ram.

While this game will not be on metaboli
Dawn of War 2 can't support the best graphics options when using windows 32-bit
Those options are disabled and if you bypass the 64-bit check on startup the game will often crash because of limited virtual memory.

Personally the first time I've had a game crash because of not running 64-bit.

I have been playing X3 Reunion on my 32 bit computer. Would be great to see it working on my new 64bit system.

Would it be possible to update the website with a filter for O/S compatibility in the games list? Otherwise we will be in a similar situation as the "Vista Testing" on virtually every game with no hope in sight of the description ever being updated. This will be especially useful when windows 7 gets released.

Filter for Windows 64 bit to show all games that would work would be ideal and save people from having to trawl through the forums just to find out the game they signed up for wont work.

That presumes that games do not work simply because a game has not been officially stamped as working in that configuration. Often games work for many people even although they do not have the official stamp. So, if this is done, it should be done as an optional filter - not a permanent one.

64bit is a little different - if it is not made available via the new "Yummy" player then it stands (practically) no chance of working.

As brian says only the Yummy player will be able to run the games in 64bit so basically put your mouse cursor on the game(s) download button if it says yummy in the link that it's going to download from then it will run in 64bit if it says extent then it's only 32bit.

Yes Optional. It was not my intention to suggest such a filter would prevent access to games that are not officially tested. More be able filter out games that are proven to work on a particular platform by Metaboli. This could also show the games that have not yet been tested or still being tested. Might even give the staff at Metaboli encouragement to actually finish testing all the games for even vista 32bit compatibly before windows 7 is released which will start this roller-coaster again.

I just think a pull down menu at the top of the screen would be easier for people new to the site to understand then having to read through the forums. This idea is not just for "Vista 64bit" but for all O/S's Windows XP onwards. Introducing such a filter soon might prevent the yummy player/vista 64 compatibility turning into another "vista testing" situation.
