what games work which aren't source engine?

What version of nvidia driver are u using?

what does ur dxdiag say, is everthing signed whql and are any problems reported?

Have you read through this entire forum to check its not a problem with the game itself?

http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/fallo ... actics-37/

If you use google you will find other game specific forums too.

did you actually do any of this to try and help?

did you also try running the game with hardware acceleration turned off like brian suggested?

it might be worth checking the games forum to see if it works with an older driver

For Fallout 1 and 2 its likely the game.. there are mods around to correct it but whether they will work for Metaboli is another matter.

PS you havent done anything to try to get DX10 on your machine have you? Considering your XP you shouldnt and the fallout problem you describe is known on Vista due to dx10, the mods force dx9.

no only DX9

Re: Oh come on why won't this work!
Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 are very old games using bitmap graphics.

These old games don't fare too well no modern high spec graphics cards. I have never manged to get them to work reliably on my ATI 4850 - does it look like multi-coloured snow everywhere? If so, it sounds like the same problem.

All I can suggest is to ensure that your graphics card is set to default settings - i.e. "Application defaults" or whatever the equivalent is on vNidia. In other words don't force anti-aliasing or any other settings via the control panel.

You could also try turning OFF hardware acceleration completely via Windows.

By your description, might be something seriously wrong with your graphics card or drivers. Do you have any problems with NON Metaboli Games? Do post your pc spec as well...

Re: Oh come on why won't this work!
i havent played any of those games, it may just be a coincidence that 3 games are giving you trouble, when i first joined i blamed metaboli for everything but a lot of games have buggs which are happening just the same on retail versions. I would try the game forums on the publishers websites as well as metaboli. the poeple here have a lot of knowledge about any problems that happen becuase of the service but it would be impossible for them to know about all buggs all the games unless they have experienced it themselves.

You might find find that steam and retail versions have the same bug and fix.

theres lots of forums about fallout 1 and 2 like this one.

Everyone here is very helpfull and friendly but as i say they wont know every issue
with every game as there are so many know.

Hope that helps.

Do you have an xfire acount and so i can see what other games you play that work fine?
My username is "battlespawn" i can try help u live wh ;) ile u are running the games.

DirectX up to date and retro-dated? Retro-Dated means that the OLD Dx files are present, not the ones Microsoft currently distribute. You can get both installed via the links Metaboli have in thier game pages.

I know Fallout has problems with the game itself (not played metaboli version but 1 & 2 have issues in XP) but weird colours isnt what that it, they have an issue with the screen going black at random intervals.

What graphics card do you have installed?

well I have an nvidia 8400 installed which is a 512MB video card 2 gig memory and like 2.8 maybe 3 Ghertz
