The discount was for life but you couldn't cancel for 6 months to get it, that's why it was offered to us long term members less chance of us wanting to leave before the 6 months was up.

you have to cancel the sub and re-subscribe to change details that's how it is i'm afraid as long as you are indeed on the life time discount and not some other one you should be able to keep your discount sub.

I was in a similar situation to you but was able to keep my discount sub by contacting Metashane and he arranged with Support to have a pop appear for when i re-subscribed that kept my discount so may be worth PMing Shane and telling him the situation and he should be able to arrange something.
