elo... me again...followed the FAQ and all that malarky to a T... no idea whats going on with it.if Zone Alarm is running, Metaboli player hangs at the "connecting to server..." stage. i've set it to allow it (GPlayer.exe) to connect he internet, and added all of the IP addresses in the FAQ... it worked for a while once i've did the above - but now has stopped working again [:-/]it displays the following errorit's been doing it for about a month or two (maybe a little more), but i haven't mentioned anything until now.any ideas on whats going on?its just really annoying having to turn Zone Alarm off just to play games [:(] and nobody should really be in the interweb without a firewall

hi Nikebee,yeah zone alarm is franckly a pisser, first of all because it blocks all the ports that the player needs to use, secondly because as a firewall in itself it's a bit weak.I'll try and fiddle around with it meself but frankly if you're running and antivirus (which everyone should be) then Windows Firewall running next to Windows AntiSpyware is more than enough protection, a third party firewall need only be activated if you do *really really* dodgy stuff online (ahem)

This has happened to me a few times, I usually need to reboot my PC and all is well. I think its because Gplayer or the game.exe doesnt close down properly on minor ocassions after you've finished playing a Metaboli game [:)]Next time it happens open up the task manager and take a peek.I use Zonealarm Pro as well btw

ok for the protection of the game there can be some sections of the protection of certain games that remain in G-player keeping it active for some time after deactivvating the game, this only happens on some PCs and in certain conditions with certain games and is so hard to track down that we believed it to be a random error for months.in this case the only way to stop this protection from continuing is to restart the PC.this problem can be seen by those people with AoW problems - trying to launch AoW after playing a game which uses a diffferent version of protection (hitman 2 for example) without restarting between gives a no cd error.With Zone alarm you could be experiencing a side-effect of this protection error (which I am assured will be corrected with the new release of the platform).and you didn't mention what dodgy stuff you look at online which requires you to have zone alarm pro [;)]
