 Problems starting From Dust
Hi, I'm having problems getting From Dust to work. I'm getting the Ubisoft updater, that works fine. When I click on Play the screen goes blank for a few seconds then I get a .exe has stopped working message. I've downloaded all the additional software on the game page that has been asked for i.e. DirectX and VCRedist (Direct X states a newer, more up to date version is already on my system). Following is my system specs: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 4/3/2012, 09:50:47 Operating System: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.111025-0338) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Re: Problems starting From Dust
Hi This issue will be down to the graphics card you are using as it does not meet the minimum requirements. The game needs :Video Card: 256 mb / shader 3.0 GeForce 8800 GT Which is taken from the Ubi forums here http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/40 ... bcf2e926c6

 Re: Problems starting From Dust
According the the box the graphics card came in , it is a 512mb card that supports shader 3.0. and a whole heap of other stuff. Think I'll just have to give this a miss. Thanks for the info anyway. I'm getting the basic idea, unless you have a top spec gaming PC, Ubisoft games are a no-no on PC's, stick to consoles eh?
Thanks again.

 Re: Problems starting From Dust
A tip for everyone and anyone, when updating drivers, use the official sites for the particular peripheral driver you want to update. Half if not more of these so called driver manager sites are crap, I used one to update all my drivers not realising I had done so. (I typed Nvidia drivers in the search bar and I got directed to one of these sites, only to find they scan your system telling you, you need alot more drivers than you really do then go on to ask for money for the privilege of giving you not so updated drivers. Con merchants or what?) Make sure you put exactly what driver your looking for and also check that the site is the official site for that particular driver.
Moral: I have now been to the official genuine NVIDIA website and downloaded the proper updated drivers for my GeForce graphics card, and guess what! Yes you guessed it, From Dust now works 100%.
Thanks bifta, if you had not stated about my graphics card not being up to spec I would never have thought to check the drivers properly, and would probably be still sat here scratching my head, cheers again.
