Hi All,

I'll try to regroup the steps you should take if you are experiencing issues when installing the new Player. It looks long, but don't be scared.

First of all, are you on Vista?

If so:

1) Please open your Host file with your textpad.

You can find it on C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts, right click on it and select “Open with” --> Notepad.

2) Now look at these 2 lines in the file:
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

In your PC, (if you are experiencing the Player installation issue) they might look like this:

# 127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

3) If so, please remove the “#” symbol from the line:
# 127.0.0.1 localhost

Basically, these 2 lines must look like this in order for your Player to work:

Basically, you must make sure that before the lines
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

There are no # symbols.

Once done, please save the file and close it.

Then come back to Metaboli and login on your account, then go to “My games” and the installation process will start. You should no longer get stuck.


If the problem persists, please make sure you do the following:

1- restart your PC

2- Uninstall Java from Start --> Control panel -> Add/Remove Programs

Your browser should close during this uninstallation. Once uninstallation is complete, please reopen it.

3- Reinstall Java from here: http://www.java.com/en/download/install ... =jre&try=1

4- Come back on metaboli.co.uk and login to your account

5 - Once you are on your account, click on My Games: the Player should initialize and inform you that the latest version of the player is not installed - you will be redirected towards the player installation (Url there is metaboli.co.uk/welcome/install)

6- Click on the green "Continue" button", even if the grey pop-up message is showing, You can always hide that message by clicking on the red cross on the top-right corner of the box). Make sure that your browsers' addons are not blocked by security suites or firewall.

If either your Windows' User account Control or your firewall or your antivirus are blocking the launch of an application or asking for its authorization, please accept it (you have nothing to fear from our Player

7 - Come back to your Metaboli account, My games section.

8- Metaboli Player should now be installed (check on the tray bar for the Metaboli icon)

9 - If it is not working, please open Internet Explorer and make sure you add http://www.metaboli.co.uk as a trusted site. See how here: http://help.godaddy.com/article/325

Make sure you uncheck ActiveX filtering: see here

Operating system: (dspecify also if 32 or 64 bit)

Reminder on how to get the lines from your Java console:

please stay on the page where you get stuck (without refreshing the page), then right-click on the Java icon on the tray bar.

im experiencing the same problem cant install the player. "Initializing player" runs forever.

Please help, i need my metaboli-fix

Have an issue myself now since the latest update which i installed today.This is the first time i have seen an issue with the new player.

Am using win 7 64.I use ffox which i updated to version 10 today.I also had an update to java today.Was using version 1.6.0_29 and am now using 1.6.0_30

The player installs and seems to load ok.It just fails to populate my games list or recognise that there are any games at all installed.

Have tried everything listed here including the fix listed for vista and nothing has helped.My av and firewall do not appear to be blocking the service according to the logs etc.

Have reinstalled the player and java.

Just in case any other win 7 users are having issues and they want to try editing the hosts file they may need to follow this procedure to do so due to admin rights.I had to follow the procedure even though i had an account with admin privellages when trying to edit the file.

Run notepad as an administrator by right clicking it and choose run as admin.Then goto file and click open.Then navigate to where marcooasis said the hosts file is.Make the changes needed and then save.If doing it the way marcooasis suggested you may not be allowed to save the file in the correct directory due to admin rights.

Ok i managed to resolve my isse now.

Even though im using an account that has admin privellages i had to navigate to where the exe for my browser is stored to(firefox)I then had to right click the exe and choose properties.I then put a tick in the boxto run it with admin privellages and saved.

After doing this my games list was repopulated with the games that are installed.

Hope this helps those that have this issue.

For me ffox was installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox from a default install.
