You should increase server hosting power for the games that are most popular. I have only been using the service for a few days now and I have already noticed that any game which is at the top for popularity has poor download speeds.

Examples:

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory downloads at around 150kbps yet when I move Double Agent up the priority list it's around 800kbps.
Assassin's Creed downloaded at around 150kbps yesterday yet when that finished Fable was next on the list and was doing around 700kbps.

I know for a fact that we have more than ample speeds to serve everyone, and then some. I download at a whopping 10M/s here, so there should not be any problems in terms of capacity/speeds.

Now, this being the internet, it will also depend on where you are based, what connection you yourself have, what ISP you are with, and other various features...

Then explain why some games download at around 150-200kbps and others at 700-800kbps.
I'm not doing anything different for each download.

I'd need you to contact support and provide them with a full report of the situation. But anyway, there is not much we can control on our end, as we provide the same download speeds for all the games.

Post Re: Download speeds
I get this all the time and I am not talking about those on a 10mb connection who can and mostly do get maxed out. I am on a 50mb connection and can download at nearly 6mb a second. there has only been about 3 games in all the time I have been here that have downloaded at around 4.5mb a second.

As already said by the op on average I get anywhere from 300k/s - 1,500 k/s and its very unstable.

There is of course one possible reason and thats a poor connection from the UK to France. I did suggest once they have a server over here and maybe employ someone to store the games here so that UK users can download them from here rather than from over there.

This will never happen of course so the answer we get here is put up and shut up or go elsewhere.

Right, because you know so much about how we handle our internet traffic, yes?

If I'm not mistaken, we also a few other users (LazerFX for example) who have 50mb connections, and max it out too...

So no, the fact that we don't have servers in the UK doesn't really change a thing as the internet is built so as to deliver data from different points in the world. There are so many factors that could be taken into account as to why you don't get maximum speed that what you just said can't be taken as the one and only reason.

We don't tell you to put up and shut, we actually ask you to send us a complete report of what you connection does (tracert is great) and we can then analyse this and get to the facts.

Post Re: Download speeds
I have a 10Mbit connection with a generalised max speed of 1.3Mbye/s, I always manage to reach this cap on Metaboli without any slow downs. The only time a slow down occurs is when there is an issue with my connection.

And even the above is more than fast enough to download the majority of the games on Metaboli within an hour if not less, so to be perfectly honest I think you're just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Last time I contacted support they copy and pasted from a thread I had taken part in from the forums which wasn't any help to anyone at the time.

I guess I wont win on this one about speeds so I'll just carry on as normal but here is a copy of my tracert.

True, I have 50Mbit conns... get 3-4Mbyte/sec download, which is around 30-40Mbit speeds. I do notice that different games do download at different rates though. Wasn't that fussed - I usually kick off a download either late in the evening / overnight, or early in the day, get other stuff done then come back to it when it's finished. That said, I've seen some games sticking at around 5 - 7Mbit / 600Kbyte-1Mbyte...
