Hi guys.

Ive noticed several people posting problems with regards to games not starting and not fully downloading. I thought Id investigate. One game mentioned was Prince of Persia, so this is what I used for checking.

What is happening the game downloads so far then suddenly completes prematurely, Im not sure whats causing this premature end to the download but when you start a game you will just get an error asking if you want to send Microsoft the details.

When this happens check your file structure for the game, this should be c:\metaboli\games now for all operating systems (let me know if new downloads arent going there for you since 15/4/2010). You may need to check all subdirectories to find a single missing file at times. This used to happen with Farcry2 and was linked to .NET Framework, these issues still could be I just havent had the chance to do any testing.

You will see file names in there check to see if any have an underscore at the end for example:


If you see files like that, go to the games list and click the link to the games page


There should now be a download link again, click it. If not play the game then after the error do the above again.

It may take several goes at doing this, and you must have the game error before the download link will appear. IE Ive had to do it 4 times with PoP so far and its still doing it, though Im getting a little more each time.

PS My ISP is going through some horrendous lag currently everythings taking 5-10 minutes to load (google, metaboli, FML) whether thats an issue I dont know.

I've experience this problem a few time's myself when i get this error i click go back a page in browser logg out reboot and then logg in again and it seems to all go back to normal no idea why this works just seems to work for me.

with the new player it allways checks for visual c and dx and when you run the install it allways skips the game download to 100% when its at playable download status this may be the reason people are thinking the game is 100% downloaded but as above works for me to get the download to resume and once it is genuinely 100% downloaded then the game launches.
