 Games for Windows LIVE
Why do they show the games box art as being Windows Live versions and when u dl the games it is a different version , kind of annoying . Was looking forward to playing Frontlines as it says Windows Live on the box , and i was trying to dl Kane & Lynch but i cant even get the game to start downloading , but i am thinking that's a Windows 7 issue

 Re: Games for Windows LIVE
Hi
First of all are you using 64bit version of win 7.If so kane and lynch wont dload for you as it uses the older exent player which is not compatible with 64bit systems. There is a filter on the site that you can use to search for 64bit compatible games only.Metaboli are in the process of moving games across to the yummy 64 bit compatible player but as im sure you are aware with so many games this might take some time.
As for the art work and games for windows live.I would think metaboli uses the art work they are provided with from the games companies.Prehaps an easier way for you to check this is to see what the game needs installed to run.If it needs games for windows live installed then it uses it.Im not 100% certian im correct in thinking this but it would seem locical to me

 Re: Games for Windows LIVE
Because the Games for Windows is a confusing branding attempt by Microsoft. Basically, the minimum that a game needs to get GfW is to appear in the Games centre in Vista/Windows 7, and support (if input style suits) the Xbox 360 controller.
Now, Games for Windows Live is somewhat different - there are very few games that support this "new" online service, which is intended to be a Windows version of Xbox Live, but actually falls quite far short.
So - Games for Windows is what you see on the box, Games for Windows Live is something slightly different.

 Re: Games for Windows LIVE
yeah MS really has touble with naming things Games for Windows Games for Windows Live Windows Live Xbox Live Everything just seems to overlap with them, they lose out on having a catchy shorthand for thier products

Metaboli LIVE! naa doesnt seem to do it for me I bet the real reason is the techies are a bit frankensteinish and when they create a program they always tack on "its alive, ALIVE!" and the maketing departpement think it sounds a bit over the top so they compromised and went with "Live".

 Re: Games for Windows LIVE
I don't know what you have against GFWL, to me it's amazing. And it's not confusing as you said, there must be written "Games For Windows - LIVE" to make sure that the game is LIVE enabled, if it's only "Games For Windows" of course it's not LIVE enabled. Nothing so difficult to understand.

 Re: Games for Windows LIVE
Its more when you tell them you need it they respond with "I already have it" refering to Windows Live, the chat program. Thats where the confusion for people comes.
My main gripe with it is your forced to use it, and it always covers over part of the screen of what your playing when someone signs in, and if someones having problems with the game they are playing that can be very annoying having that every 5 seconds.
