I downloaded far cry 2 recently, and upon running the game, I get the autoupdater. Now, I know this doesn't work (as I've read through the board), and the game still starts up.

The real problem is when I actually try to start single player, I get to the character select, choose a character, and when it's loading, it stops, comes up with a box 'Failed to load world' and returns to the main menu.

I've redownloaded the game twice incase the download got corrupted somehow, but that didn't work. Also, when you do redownload it, it doesn't even startup because it doesn't fix the registry from when you delete it previously (I had to manually go in with regedit and take out the farcry 2 stuff before it would let me run the game).

Anyways, does anyone else have this problem, or a solution for it?

I have this problem now as well after formatting my drive. I'm sure I'm just missing something as it happened to someone on steam, but like here I find the question not the answer

The problem seems to be that the download cuts out after about 500mb just after the directx update launch. I think the server file list is busted.

buy retail and have no problem period.

i have had such problems in steam alot with games that were not from valve.

if you very much want a game and you know its good getitng boxed versions atleast early on are the best.

I have far cry 2 on boxed never ran to any problems.. bugs are problems of the PAAAAAST

I guess soon in the future you wont be having this on these services either because they are getting better and better.
some may now say all games have bugs but they are not as far as critical as these.

WHAT i am saying is if you get problems with games here it does not mean you cant purhcase the retail and enjoy the game, if you cannot wait for fix and help

bugs are not the things of the past.. no idea where you get that from, most games even released today have some issues still and patches released.. hell it's even happening with consoles such as PS3 and Xbox 360 since they have become more PC like..

Granted retail games are patched quicker as you can just download them from the site when the developer / publisher adds them, you cant do that here as Developers have to make special patches for download games due to how the service works.. this is isn't metaboli's fault, they can only ask for the patch..

It's up to the developer / publisher to create and send it which can take time depending on how quickly they want to take creating and sending the patch some Developers / Publishers are not always speedy in this regard.

Ive looked into it and have to say theres something wrong but not sure what yet.. on Vista64 the game skips a lot of the download, XP32 it seems to be downloading fine (same PC)

Those having the issue, can you provide Operating System (Vista/XP 32/64 Bit) and Browser+version

XP worked with Firefox 3.11
Vista64 doesnt appear to with 3.5.3

Ill work on tracking down the actual cause and a solution, Metaboli (at least the Teir 1 support) doesnt have a definitive answer for this.
