Post Metaboli player installation
I know there are similar threads to this one, but the ones I've found don't fix my issue. I might not have seen them all, so appologies if someone's answered this already, but I also can't search the forum properly because 'metaboli and player' are too common words to search for...

Anyhow, I've been using metaboli for a while now with no problems. however, I've just bought a new pc and I can't get the player to work on it. It's an AMD 9550 quad core, Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 graphics and I've put Windows XP (SP2) on it myself - i.e. there was nothing on the hard drive when i started (so no previous Player installation to cause an issue). I'm using IE7 now, but I was using IE6 yesterday. I can download the player ok, and on running, it says it's installed and I get the icon on the desk top that directs me to the site. However, I can't download any games. When I check the games folder, it says I need to install the player.

Getting tired of wiping, searching for residual files, wiping some more, reinstalling, wiping, etc...
Anyone got any ideas, please, before I give up?

OK, so I installed firefox, logged in, downloaded the player, installed it, then got booted out when I tried to log back in - every time I try and log in using firefox, I get a run time error - I can get the website up ok and open different pages, the error is only on trying to log in...
I can still log in if I use IE7, but every time I try with firefox, it kicks me out.

Hi sounds the same issue as i had with ffox and ie

was advised to foloow this process to try and cure it
Uninstall Metaboli player again.
- Close Mozilla Firefox
- Reopen Mozilla Firefox and ie
- Go to tools--> add ons
- Uninstall Yummi Conduit player
- Close Firefox
- Go to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins and delete the file 'npExentCtl.dll'
-scanned with advanced system care 3
-restarted
- reinstall the player.

this worked for me with ie but not for ffox.

got ffox working after a cleanboot of my system.although having said that i originally got the problem after a clean boot too.am using vista not xp myself but hope this helps you

Thanks for the info, bifta.
I deleted (again), removed the add on from ff and reloaded it, ran advanced system care which fouind and repaired a bunch of stuff, rebooted, tried installing the player again and got the same results as in my first two posts - IE doesn't appear to do anything (although I get message saying it's installed) and ff also says it's installed but shuts down on log in, giving the run time error.

Any other ideas out there guys? I'd really like to be able to get some game playing time out of this again...

Hi again sry it's been a week since my last post...

Hope you have managed to get this working by now but if u have not like i said in my previous post to ge my system working with ffox for this issue i had to clean boot my system(insert windows disc, restart, delete partition when loaded from disc, repartition, format and reinstall windows)

i tried loads of stuff to try and resolve this issue without reinstalling all to no avail.the only other thing that i can think of to try is system restore.a restore point before you installed the player

Again hope this helps

Thanks, Bifta. Nope, I'm still not able to get it working yet :(
I'm in contact with customer service, though, and they're trying to help (but are currently stuck...) so hopefully they'll come up with a solution.
I doubt I'd have a suitable restore point, this is a completely new pc and I bought it without an OS, so I'd only put windows on about 30 mins before I started trying to get metaboli on - I think the only thing I did before metaboli, but after windows, was update my sound and graphics drivers. And I don't thing I can bring myself to do a clean install so soon after doing the first one...

For those of you who may be having the same issue as me, or were just curious to see what happened next...
I've got access back. All I had to do was install the player from one of the affilaited sites (I tried both virignmedia and Game, both worked successfully) rather than directly through the Metaboli site. I have no idea why this made any difference, but it did... Worked on both IE and FF.

Hi again

tx for the reply about theying the player from an affiliated site.never tried that myself.

as far as a restore point goes if u did a driver update before installing the player im sure windows would have created a restore point.it certianly does with vista but not sure about xp.

really hope you hae managed to resolve this issue by now as it's been a while :)

Well, time to bring an old post back to life...

Check back through the thread, I had issues a while ago as I couldn't get the player to work. This was eventually cured when i went through either the Virgin or Game sites instead of directly through the Metaboli site. However, as of a couple of days ago (July 2), this doesn't work anymore - in the 'My Games' screen, I have none of the 10 or so games I've downloaded adn was recently playing, only the message saying I need to download the player. I've done all of the stuff I did last time and I'm at a loss again. Any ideas anyone?
