 Re: slow virgin
I love the title of this thread.... Slow virgin. I don't know why virgins would be slower than any other women or men? [:D]MetaOff!

 Re: slow virgin
To give a serious answer to the OP: Virgin's "blazing fast" service applies to the 'last mile' of the internet connection. Their local data centres cache popular web content (such as iplayer videos, the youtube top 100, the 100,000 most popular web pages and so forth) and genuinely do deliver that very quickly. If you're looking for something more niche or on a secure server, like say, content from a games download service, then it won't be cached at the data centres and you're back with the rest of us apes on the regular internet, copper wires and all. What's more, Virgin (like every ISP) uses traffic shaping to limit its costs and provide an adequate service for the 'average user'. In their case, they'll favour traffic for popular content that's been cached and not for that which hasn't. I'd assume that downloads from metaboli *cannot* be cached by ISPs because it's on a secure connection. It not being http traffic probably further reduces its importance in their traffic schedule.

I dont think traffic shaping is a issue here as Virgin is the only one( if there are others please tell me ) that has issues with Metaboli, all other ISP's dont seem to have any problems routing their traffic to metaboli even if there is shaping, many here like myself that are not with Virgin can download on or close to their top rate, if shaping was a issue we would all have the problem yet we dont, I think it's more about Virgin themselves with them not able or willing to route traffic to metaboli effectively even when metaboli has tried to help them do this.

That's fine if that's all your line or cable connection is capable of doing, if your able to recieve 8Mb or even 20Mb and your not getting anywhere near that then they have every right to care.
