i have installed a 64 on another partition, with only the basic drivers (nothing recent), but download still cuts out at about 550mb on firefox (latest version) and 800mb in the download directory. a directx update dialogue appears and the game appears to be ready to play.

Yeah so have I, what Im leaning towards is .NET framework, but hoping MrBad can confirm it or not, if it is the framework it might be a problem for 64bit users that cant be fixed. 32bit should be solvable.

Sorry I didn't reply yesterday, was out so couldn't check. OK it seems you are correct I only actually downloaded 791mb! As for .NET framework I have 1, 2, 3 & 3.5.

Hope that helps.

Im sure Ill have a solution for you guys given enough time, Ive given up trying to get support to bump me up to a higher tier of support been going around in circles with them.

Ill just bug Shane once Ive either come up with a solution or at least pointed out the cause.

I'm on Vista 32-bit, and have just downloaded FC2, it claims to have fully downloaded 2.7 gig, but upon checking the folder itself only 719 megabyte was downloaded. I'm not even going to both attempting to play it, knowing the likely outcome. Perhaps it is just a server-sided issue that is unfixable?

Have you checked the trans-conduits on level 5? Or it might help reversing the plasma flow in the ion-flux generator.

Maybe hit it with a spoon? Or a chicken? Bribe it with cake?

I'm running out of ideas... :(

Ok as promised heres the fix for XP (and possibly Vista) 32bit Operating systems, Vista64 I need to work out a solution.. THIS WONT WORK FOR VISTA64!!

Short Way (not tested):
Uninstall ALL .NET Framwork installations via add/remove programs. Start with 3.5 then 3.0 then 2.0. Attempt 1.1 (I wasnt able to) then 1.0
Next go to Microsoft to get the .NET framework redist and install. Then download the game.

Long way (tested):
Download Farcry, this wont completely download the game but some of it. Personally I got 1.2gb worth in this initial download.
Activate game, and then quit, it should be downloading some more now.
That will get to 1.7gb before saying its done, game still wont work.
Remove all .NET Frameworks then resume downloading.. this will get you to 2.2gb.
Now get the .Net Framework
Now resume downloading the game and it should complete.
The game will now work fine.

This still doesnt fix the patching problem though.

Seems alot of hassle for a single game. Hopefully they'll fix the issue so people won't actually have to resort to this.

great solution wildride :)

it's looking like .net 3.5 is still the cause of many .net issues, problem is it gets installed as default with windows live now.. I haven't tried to download and play far cry 2 myself as i have the PS3 version, but i will give it a go to help fellow members..

It maybe the way .net 3.5 has been installed on some systems.. before updating windows live i removed all previous versions of .net and just allowed 3.5 to install with the windows live update, so far games that require .net seem to work and download ok.

As i say i haven't tried far cry 2 but i'll give it a go and post the results.
