A brand new, stand-alone game set in the universe of X3

Life in the wide reaches of space can have vast ranges of being. Adventure and strategy await in the dotted reaches of an infinity that holds challenges and conflicts. X3 - Terran Conflict is a brand new, stand-alone game set in the universe of X3. It is the culmination of the X trilogy, with a grand finale that takes us all the way back to Earth's own solar system. Gamers can take on the roles of different characters in the X universe, or of a Terran military pilot, and experience a multitude of stories in the largest X universe ever featured - for X3 - Terran Conflict will offer more missions than any other X game before. Meanwhile, X3 - Terran Conflict will pose questions such as: How has Earth changed in all these years? And how will relations between Earth and its counterparts in the X universe develop?

Note:
- Requires the latest DirectX 9c

Ok, finally the vanilla version is here and I can write a proper review of this game. Let`s start by saying that I just couldn`t wait for Metaboli to replace the modded version with the vanilla one, so I had to buy it;) For those of you who have played X3 - Reunion, Terran Conflict seems to me to be a great improvement and actually a little easier to understand at first play, although I have to agree with what most critics say is the biggest flaw, the A.I. I`ll get back to that a little later though. For new players, this game really is a must have for space sim fans. And if you`re wondering whether to try Reunion before Terran Conflict, I`d say go for Terran Conflict instead. Plotwise it won`t matter much and you`ll benefit from better game mechanics in TC. The game is immense, with surprisingly many sectors you can visit, which will give the explorer type gamer many hours of fun just flying through space exploring. For the fighter pilot gamer there won`t be any shortcomings of challenging battles, like the first time you`ll manage to anger the captain of a capital ship and just need to get the hell outta firing range;) You can actually start out as a space pirate if you`re after a real challenge. Also another crucial element which in my opinion makes this game great is the possibility to build a trading empire! You`ll start out small and have to literally build your way to the top. First you`ll start by minor trade runs with your personal ship or do subquests to earn enough credits to buy a freighter ship, optionally capture freight ships from other pilots, buy the trade software for the new ships and send them off doing trade for you while you do whatever you like. After a while you`ll have enough credits to even buy your own space stations and factories which will increase your trade income further. Last but not least is the quest system which has gotten a big improvement from Reunion, you have your standard plot quests which you can do in your own time unless you should happen upon a timed quest. Also you`ll have an infinite number of subquests, like pirate hunting, taxi servicing, trade runs or construction quests, all to give you a chance to earn some easy/hard credits. Now, the reason I won`t give this game a 5 rating is the A.I. and some minor bugs. The A.I. is worth mentioning though, since it can wipe out your fleet if you don`t pay attention... If you`re in a big fight, it`s not unlikely that your wingmen might crash into nearby stations or asteroids, especially if you`re using a device called SETA which speeds up time. Also the pathing while flying on autopilot can be annoying if there`s any kind of object between you or your destination. All in all, even with a weak AI, personally I think this game is great, already I have spent 60 hours playing this game and almost haven`t advanced with the main plot at all. I mostly based my score on how entertaining I personally find it, even though the graphics engine might be a few years old by now I still find the graphics stunning. And with my final score at 4,5 I can safely say that any space sim fan should try Terran Conflict.
