If you have played Baldur's Gate, you would no doubt be familiar with Bioware's impressive achievement in transforming the classic paper and pencil Dungeons and Dragons into a digital experience. Neverwinter Nights continues this tradition, being no less and perhaps in several respects, superior to the Baldur's Gate series. With the 3rd edition D&D rules, you can customize your character anyway you like from a half-orc mage to a gnomish fighter.
But of course you don't plan to take on all the monsters by yourself, do you? To gain extra help you can always hire henchmen or invite your friends to play online. In fact, the multiplayer support is so impressive that you can have up to 64 players join in. Work together in teams to complete the many quests, or even fight against each other if you desire. Though I would advise some cooperation amongst your players, as Neverwinter is truly an epic adventure.
There are a total of 4 chapters in the game, each one a good challenge in itself. In total the campaign offers anywhere from 60 to 80 hours of play to complete. As if that's not enough, the game comes with the Aurora toolset allowing Dungeon Masters to create their own adventures for others to play.
This Delxue edition of Neverwinter Nights comes with two great expansion packs: Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark. These expansions are not only two great adventures in itself, they also strectch the world of Neverwinter Nights to its very limits. Where Shadows of Undrentide will let you have a taste of what it's like to be a wanna-be adventurer, starting as a low level character, Hordes of the Underdark will bring you to the other extreme as you max out your level 40 god-like character! The expansion packs adds over 10 new classes in total. Now you can create any kind of hero you want from a fire-breathing half dragon to an evil paladin that can raise the dead.
So what are you waiting for? Take up your sword, enter the world of Neverwinter and don't forget to pack a few extra healing potions along.
