I want to like this game I really do.
The idea behind it and the american civl war predecessor, blue and grey, are fantastic, the delivery is not.
I saved five times in my first try at one of the campaings it only seems to have one save slot for each campaign and so overrwrites the last save game. The longest campaign is nearly 300 turns and each turn can last half an hour. On a single save?
As I said I want to like this game for the principles behind it.
There is a strong historical element, although a little controversial, producers are French and the rest of europe may have a different view of Napoleon. Those I have seen on the web site who like the history seem to be canadian or USA or french.
Sometimes units disappear perhaps combat perhaps a bug? Difficult to tell.
The tutorial is a joke. It does not tutor in any of the strategic sides of the game. By that I mean reinforcements and when or if they arrive, reinforcements are, it seems, pre-programmed; though there is nothing to tell you this.
I have not read the manual as it is not yet online.
Again I want to like this game and will persist with it so maybe I'll review again (if that's allowed) and shoot myself down in flames if I get the hang of it.
One thought, if a game is more than six months old and you search for FAQs and Walkthroughs and can only find ones on the official web site...what does that say about a game?
But please give it a try, it has merit if not in the delivery then in the trying and perhaps some feed back to AGEOD will make the next generation so much better.
