I'll be damned!

Damnation being the concept of condemnation by God that results in a being's punishment (if you refer to Mark 3:29), you'll understand me when I say this game will be the end of you. Indeed, you'll find yourself in need of help as this game is a trip into hell!

Damnation is, at least, consistent. It looks rubbish, it sounds rubbish, and it plays like rubbish. Graphically, it's about five years out of date and the art direction appears to have been to slather everything in an unnatural shade of brown. The controls aren't particularly intuitive, frequently leading to you to leap back and forth over the same chasm, because the game registered that you got too close to something. The voice acting is risible, and your female colleague has the typical stupid tiny top on, that barely covers her freakishly unnatural modesty. When will designers stop patronising us by assuming that we will connect with an NPC better if someone draws her looking like a stripper at a gunfight? The gunplay lacks any sort of feedback or visceral thrill. The one concession to this is progressively greying out the screen as you get hurt. So you spend your time squinting at what seems like a dirty window, through which you can see an idiot with a bad accent, a hooker, and nondescript bad guys fighting over a bland desert scene. Oddly, you lack any inclination to help this motley cast of witless buffoons, and would rather stick the ineffectual "steampunk" gun in your mouth and pull the trigger. This option is sadly lacking. Avoid.
