Follow the missions of the 101st in the Normandy landings
Unlike any other WWII game, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 mixes squad tactics with first person shooting. Letting you control a squad of paratroopers from the pre-D-day drop through to the legendary battle of Hill 30. You'll be using fire teams to pin down the enemy to then out-flank them with another team. It's true battlefield tactics in this visceral, very personal, account of the D-day landings.Note: Requires the latest DirectX version.

Mostly enjoyable, entertaining war game, with a few flaws.
Relatively short, somewhat over acted emotions, that aimed at your sense of horror at the facts of a bloody and mindless war.
Your characters musing at the start of each mission does become somewhat grating, a soft method to induce some connection or emotion with your men, but I found that I didnt get close to any of them. I didnt feel I had to protect them, or look after them for the return home, in the main you use your teams as bullet meat for your heroic mad charge to glory.
Annoying soundbytes from your men screaming 'Get Down', and even more annoying 'Get out of the way Baker', the first few times it raised some reaction, but it quickly becomes pointless.
The team AI can be very troublesome, getting in your way, running straight into enemy fire despite the fact that you recce the area for 5 mins, and plan meticulously your attempt to storm various key points..
Another little gripe would be that you can take on the complete german army, storm through them, save your team, be a real hero, but you never get a pat on the back, or a thanks, or well done. A little more affinity to your character would have gone a long way.
Some good ideas, easy to play, but it could be so much better. That said....Hell's Highway did take note, and learnt by the mistakes of this expansion. I wouldn't say don't play, I enjoyed it despite the points I raise above, but it could have been so much more........
