3,9/5 Rate this gameAfter playing all of the Broken Swords that have been made up to date this proves to be another great game with George Stobarts humour. The gameplay is the same as the previous games, I mean for a point and click game what more are you expecting. I just didn't like the way the speech kept cutting out and the constant re-loading of the game to correct this. Otherwise a great game.
I had a real problem with character rendering after i had installed this game, namely due to the fact that I am using a quad core processor. In order to get the characters rendering correctly and not just a black silhouette you need to force your computer to use just a single core of the processor. This can be done with a simple command using the command prompt: 'bcdedit/set onecpu on' I found the game to be not as good as the other broken sword games, the graphics were very nice but some of the puzzles were illogical and was stuck too much for my liking!
Although far from BS's finest hour (flat characters, terrible ending, graphics worse than part 3) this is worth persevering with. After a long (and rather silly) start in which George escapes some mafia goons (accompanied by a dull blonde girl he implicitly seems to trust) the story, graphics and puzzles do kick up a notch for most of the game (bar 1 short sequence of such almost surreal stupidity you wonder what Cecil was smoking that day). Also features the worst control system in history.
I have played all the games in this series and consider my self as a bit of an adventure game addict. As usual 'BS Angel of Death' ticks all the boxes for a game in this genre. The story draws you in and the graphics are crisp and colourful with lots of nice cut scenes to reward you for all the time spent scanning the screen for interactive pixels. I enjoyed this game very much. I would get this if like me you enjoy the point and click adventure genre.
