Anno 1404, the original Anno!

Anno 1404 is one of the most appreciated real-time strategy and city-building games ever. Just ask any German gamer, and he'll tell you that yes, it's 'da bomb'. That, or he is too busy playing Settlers. But I digress. Anno 1404 is the sequel to Anno 1701 (which we'll have here shortly) and is the latest installment in the Anno series.

Accessible enough to be fun yet deep enough to be compelling, Anno 1404 is one of those awful games that eats lives and spits out twisted wrecks of those strategy gamers who play it. Wonderful characterization, an enjoyable, if narratively bland main campaign backed up by several stand alone scenarios and a random game generator combine to produce a title unlikely to leave a strategy fan's hard disk in a hurry.
