Sharpen your spears and slap on your helmet and armour to relive the wars made legendary by Homer's Iliad. Between 700 and 300 BC Spartans, Persians and Egyptians were each fighting a merciless struggle to expand their territory. In Ancient Wars: Sparta, you'll be putting on the colours of the different kingdoms through 27 exciting missions replaying famous battles of the Spartan Wars. Including, among others, the legendary war of Thermopylae, between the (now rather famous) 300 Spartans and over 20000 Persian. With help from the forces of nature as well as legendary heroes, you might just gain control of the ancient world, for honor and glory!

Gameplay side of things, Sparta is right down the ancient street of real time strategy game fans. With the genre's essential ingredients popping up everywhere completed here with a host of additional options. Of note is the excellent unit creation system where you can equip your troops with whatever weapons you've researched making a fully unique squad, perfect for the task at hand. Or for you sea-goers there's the ability to set your crew yourself leaning further in the soldier direction if you like boarding enemy ships and putting them to the sword. And taking some ideas from role playing, Sparta lets you pick up the weapons of your fallen enemies to equip your own army, and you can even steal their horses! But there's nothing more satisfying that preparing a nice trap for your enemies to run into.

Sparta's graphics make for a nice ancient world with some spectacular looking units especially the galleons and little environmental effects like the way snakes slither across the landscape really immerse you in the world.
All in all a classic RTS game with some nice elements that put it aside from the crowd, worth a play for any fans of the genre.
