PC digital downloads market to be worth $1bn in '09

GfK Chart-Track director Dorian Bloch has said that he expects the market for digital downloads via services such as Steam, Direct2Drive and Metaboli to be worth over USD 1 billion in 2009. Last year Bloch estimates that the market generated around USD 600 million, and he admitted publisher's using this market are desperate to include their sales number's in the company's data, which is relied on by the UK and European industry.

Trine PC Demo impressions

Some of my most memorable gaming experiences have come in the pre-pre HD era. 2D side-scrollers like Contra, Mario, Sonic, Strider and Double Dragon made gaming on 8 bit consoles so much fun. Luckily some developers' still believe in old school gaming, and Capcom's Bionic Commando Rearmed is a fine example. It sold quite a few copies and was well accepted by critics.

A demo to the super-gorgeous side scroller Trine has been released. And i can tell you from my own little play with it, it's excellent, it really is. The However i have an ATI card. I have no idea if PhysX was still running but through the CPU, but the physics seemed really impressive. But best of all and takes quite a bit of skill, the use of 3 different charachters to get through the levels is great.
